If you're one for romantic movies about music, Dandelion looks like a film for you.

If Beale Street Could Talk star KiKi Layne leads the film as the eponymous singer-songwriter from Cincinnati who just can't catch a break despite her talent. Playing a gig in South Dakota, Dandelion meets guitarist Casey (Gossip Girl's Thomas Doherty), and whirlwind romance and deep artistic connection is on the horizon for them.

Written and directed by Holler's Nicole Riegel, Dandelion saw buzz out of this year's SXSW. Being a film about music and creative depth, the film notably features music by Bryce and Aaron Dessner — so, expect to cry.

Dandelion hits cinemas July 12.
