Here's why Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyle didn't talk for years

Making a sequel 20 years after the original film is always going to be a huge challenge -- but it gets even tricker when two of the key people haven't spoken to each other in well over a decade.

Appearing together on The Graham Norton Show to discuss T2 Trainspotting, Danny Boyle and Ewan McGregor were asked about falling out.

"It was just over a film," explained McGregor, talking about The Beach. "And it's a big regret of mine that it went on for so very long."

McGregor went on to say he felt "rudderless" after appearing in three of Boyle's movies and then discovering he hadn't been cast in The Beach.

"I handled it very, very badly," said Boyle. "I've apologised to Ewan and I kind of feel a shame about it..."

Still, they seem to be getting on well enough now.
