Hip-hop had its anti-Donald Trump moment earlier this year with California rapper YG's "Fuck Donald Trump," which later received a remix from G-Eazy and Macklemore.

Now, as election season heats up, the political jams are slowing down a bit. Some gentle guitars and harmonies have been added, but the sentiment remains somewhat the same with Death Cab for Cutie's surprise new track, "Million Dollar Loan."

"He's proud to say he built his fortune the old-fashioned way," lead singer Ben Gibbard croons as a Trump lookalike stands solemnly in the lyric video. "He countersues from any corner he's backed into" he continues singing, subtly jabbing the Republican presidential nominee. In a statement released with the video, Gibbard spoke about how the song came to be before encouraging fans to vote in the upcoming election:

"While campaigning in New Hampshire last year he attempted to cast himself as a self-made man by claiming he built his fortune with just a "small loan of million dollars" from his father. Not only has this statement been proven to be wildly untrue, he was so flippant about it. Like it was no big deal. It truly disgusted me. I remember thinking, "surely THIS will be the turning point. To refer to an amount of money most working class people will never see in their lifetime as 'small' illustrates a shocking lack of perspective. Assuredly now everyone will see this man for the charlatan he truly is. And yet, here we are."

Death Cab For Cutie is one of the bands involved in "30 Days, 30 Songs," an anti-Trump protest campaign led by artists releasing a new song daily until election day.
