Leonardo DiCaprio graced the Whitehouse with his presence for South By South Lawn Monday, talking all things climate change with fellow panelists, President Obama and climate scientist Dr Katharine Hayhoe.

The chat preceded the premiere of Leo's documentary Before The Flood but midway through the one-hour talk, the topic of inter-planetary travel was broached and things got a bit LOL.

Hayhoe was discussing the immediate need for people to comprehend the impacts of climate change and referenced Elon Musk's plans to colonise Mars, saying "The reality of it is, if you're a human living on this planet — which most of us are, yeah? As long as we haven't signed up for the trip to Mars. I don't want to know if anyone has, I think you're crazy."

Cheekily, DiCaprio interjected with a brief although joking admission, simply saying "I did."

Somewhat frazzled Hayhoe laughed off the comment saying that she didn't truly believe the Oscar winner to be unhinged, but President Obama stepped in to retorted wryly "I think you'll acknowledge he's crazy."

You guys with your witty banter! Stay tuned for Mashable's full coverage from the "festival of ideas, art and action" but for now, just enjoy the though of Leonardo DiCaprio starting a new life for himself in space.
