Australia's red centre is usually thought of as a desert, yet a recent spate of rainfall has given the area new life, as witnessed in a drone video captured by FIlippo Gelada on Jan. 7.

There are patches of lush green growth and water, a rare sight in an area more used to drought.

The nearby Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park had been closed temporarily thank to the unusual rain, but reopened on Dec 27. Rangers have been working to restore tracks in the park that were damaged by water.
