The famed British anthropologist espouses the importance of environmental protection and conservation in a beautifully animated Earth Day message.

Google Doodle has a special treat to share in honor of Earth Day: A message from Dr. Jane Goodall, the famed British anthropologist and chimpanzee expert, and the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute.

In the animated video short, Dr. Goodall frames the importance of an event like Earth Day against her own lifelong interest in animals and natural ecosystems.

"What better day than Earth Day to really make a determined effort to live lives in better harmony with nature," she says at one point. "Every single individual matters, every single individual makes some kind of impact on the planet every single day, and we have a choice as to what kind of difference we are going to make."
