Eddie Murphy brought back his Mr. Rogers parody for modern times on 'SNL'

Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood sure has changed.

Eddie Murphy's triumphant return to Saturday Night Live kicked off with a soaring sketch, and one of many that revisited a classic Murphy character.

In this new episode of "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood," which yes, is a Mr. Rogers spoof, the titular host returns to his old apartment to teach the kids about things like gentrification and squatter's rights. Like many of the sketches Murphy appeared in throughout the night, this one delivers big laughs while skewering some uncomfortable truths about race (and the black experience specifically) in modern America.

No one says (sings!) it better than Mr. Robinson himself: "So the check-cashing place turned into a bank / The elevator works and the stairs they don't stank / The white people came and changed everything / But I am still your neighbor."
