On Wednesday's episode of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Democratic presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren spoke about an emotional moment she shared with a 17-year-old supporter on Sunday night in Iowa.

In the tearful exchange caught on video, the high school student asked if Warren had ever been rejected by people she cared about, and how she dealt with it. "I could see her face, and as she started this question I knew that she was in the middle of something tough," said Warren.

Warren told the student about the problems she had in her relationship with her mother, telling the young girl that "you just gotta do what's right inside" before giving her a hug.

"A lot of people don't know I dropped out of school at 19, got married to someone my mother wanted me to marry," Warren told Fallon. "And when Raelyn started to speak, it's like all of a sudden I was back on the phone with my mother, trying to explain that after these years he had walked out and he wasn't coming back. And I knew how she would feel about that."
