Sometimes, even Elmo needs to be reminded that it's OK to fail.

In the video above, Elmo attends a classroom in which a teacher uses blocks to demonstrate how an engineer might build a bridge. Elmo tries to help but the bridge collapses. He is discouraged but the teacher and a student comfort him, saying he can still be an engineer even if he doesn't get it right at first.

The video was released to promote a new literacy curriculum for children ages 3 to 5 that "will integrate social emotional learning into early childhood literacy lessons," according to a press release. The curriculum is a partnership between Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which utilizes technology to encourage global progress and which Chan co-founded with husband Mark Zuckerberg, and The Primary School, a California school Chan also co-founded.

The Sesame Workshop and The Primary School hope to use the curriculum to help get children -- particularly ones in underserved areas -- prepared for kindergarten.

“We know that reaching children in their earliest years can change the trajectory of their lives. By joining the expertise of Sesame Workshop and The Primary School, I am optimistic that educators, students, and families will benefit from exceptional tools that can help young children thrive,” Chan said in a press release.

By the end of 2020, the organizations hope to put the curriculum online, so qualifying classrooms across the country can access it.
