The first teaser for Emilia Pérez is a musical fever dream.
Directed by Jacques Audiard, Emilia Pérez centers on the intertwining stories of four women in Mexico. Chief among them is transgender cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón), who asks lawyer Rita (Zoe Saldaña) to help her fake her own death so she can undergo gender affirming surgery and live as her true self.
Selena Gomez and Adriana Paz round out the cast, with the four lead actors sharing the Best Actress prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. You can get a glimpse of the quartet in action in the teaser above, which features some dazzling dance numbers, brutal shootouts, and a sneak peek of one of Emilia Pérez's songs.
As Mashable's Siddhant Adlakha writes in his review out of Cannes, the film is a "dazzling, dramatic high-wire act that's always fun to watch, and is frequently invigorating, too."
Emilia Pérez premieres in select theaters on Nov. 1, and hits Netflix Nov. 13.
