The popular children's song, "Baby Shark," is undeniably catchy, but it's still a children's song, which means that many people over the age of 12 find it too baby-ish to embrace as an anthem.
There have been a decent amount of remixes, including one at Coachella, that have upped the song's cool factor, but for those still searching for a rendition of "Baby Shark" that speaks to their wise souls, we present, emo "Baby Shark."
David Sikabwe, a musician and creator of the YouTube channel, Going Spaceward, recently shared his own personal take on the annoyingly viral song. It's a beautifully dark, angsty track. And honestly? It's kind of good.
In a video shared to YouTube, Sikabwe can be seen playing guitar and singing a much more somber version of the catchy chorus. He then goes off into some original, shark-related lyrics:
I didn't think that I would die today. They smelled my bleeding wounds a mile away. It won't be long. They keep a steady pace. The ocean floor will be my resting place. Now I can faintly hear those sirens sing. My life is hanging from the thinnest string, the thinnest string. They move in packs. Now they've surrounded me. Not one or two; it's a whole family.
"This is one of those videos where you go 'This is too weird...' then you make it anyway," Sikabwe wrote in the video description. We're glad he did, because this is the perfect song to blast while dramatically staring out of a train window in 2019.
