Cinema loves cinema about cinema, and this movie is exactly that, but with added Micheal Ward and Olivia Colman.

The teaser trailer for Empire of Light promises a tale about The Empire, a cinema sitting on the beachfront in England during the '80s, still boasting all the bells and whistles we love, like red velvet seats for one.

Colman plays front-of-house employee Hilary, who meets new cinema employee Stephen (Ward), who the trailer shows is dealing with the violent racism in Britain in the 1980s. You'll spy Colin Firth and Toby Jones working in the Empire cinema too.

Written and directed by Skyfall and Spectre's Sam Mendes, with cinematography by Roger Deakins, the film promises to be one for lovers of the movies.

Empire of Light will premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival in September before a global release.
