The Marvel Cinematic Universe takes a wonderfully retrofuturistic turn in the first teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision).

On top of bringing us into a 1960s-inspired world, the teaser introduces the MCU's take on Marvel's First Family. Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, Gladiator II) plays the extra-stretchy, extra-brilliant Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby (Napoleon) joins him as the forcefield-wielding Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Rounding out the team are Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm/The Thing, who has superhuman strength and invulnerability, and Joseph Quinn (A Quiet Place: Day One, Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, who has flame (on) powers.

Based on the teaser, it looks like Fantastic Four: First Steps won't be a retread of the Fantastic Four's origin story. They already have their powers and are preparing to face off against fearsome foes like Galactus (Ralph Ineson, Nosferatu) and Silver Surfer (Julia Garner, Wolf Man).

While our first look at Galactus and the Fantastic Four's powers are neat, it's the domestic scenes of the Fantastic Four's family life that really shine in this teaser. Come for Johnny Storm lighting up, stay for Ben Grimm praising robot H.E.R.B.I.E.'s cooking.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25.
