The Journey is a new mode that joins all the expected annual enhancements that a new 'FIFA' game brings.

EA Sports is trying something a little different this year with FIFA 17. A new mode -- "The Journey" -- chronicles a young, up-and-coming player's road to soccer stardom. As you can see in the trailer, this is more than just text on a screen; there are character-driven cutscenes that seem to angle for real drama.

In addition to The Journey, FIFA 17 also features the expected assortment of mechanical enhancements, along with another completely new addition: actual team managers. In a first for the series, the managers of all the teams are rendered in the game.

How their presence affects the experience remains to be seen, but between this and The Journey, it seems like EA is intent on injecting FIFA 17 with more personality.
