Creepy children laughing and dropping ghostly figures in their innocent paintings, a grand old estate with a "forbidden part," a neeeeeew nanny — it's horror-by-numbers in the new trailer for haunted house thriller The Turning.

Starring a weirdly drum-thwacking IT and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard and Terminator: Dark Fate's Mackenzie Davis, The Turning is set in a great big spooky estate in Maine, where newly appointed nanny Kate is charged with the care of two orphans, Flora and Miles.

It's all inspired by Henry James' novel, and was written by The Conjuring writers Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes, so expect plenty of ghosty jump scares.

"What happened to your last nanny?" Find out when it hits cinemas Jan. 24.
