The idea of a flaming rock hurtling from outer space and landing on Earth is neat, if a little scary.

Legendary documentarian Werner Herzog teamed up with volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer to create a film that explores and celebrates meteorite phenomena from a geological, philosophical and cultural perspective. The first trailer for Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds touches on humans' experience with meteorites, showing interviews with scientists who study their extraterrestrial origins and religious leaders who incorporate space rocks into their theological understanding.

Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds premieres on Apple TV+ Nov. 13.
