While we want for winter to be over, both for Season 8 of the HBO hit (out in 2019) and the next installment of the books, Winds of Winter (out never), why not some Fire and Blood?

The Targaryen spinoff title that takes place prior to the events in the main A Song of Fire and Ice book series by George R. R. Martin got its first brief preview on Friday. It isn't much, but we're ready to Dracarys all over this unnecessary yet still intriguing chapter in the Game of Thrones universe.

"300 years before A Game of Thrones, dragons ruled Westeros," the preview states. It also provides details on exactly what the Targaryen history book will cover, namely the reign of their house, from the original Aegon the Conqueror to Aegon III.

While tangential, the book will certainly give relevant backstory to the current events of the show and books. Both Daenerys and Jon Snow arguably mirror Aegon the Conquerer, the first king to ever unite the Seven Kingdoms and rule over Westeros as one nation.

The prequel will feature 75 all-new black and white portraits as well as scenes drawn by artist Doug Wheatley. The comic book artist previously illustrated Martin's other spinoff book The World of Ice & Fire, as well as Star Wars, Aliens, Superman, and The Incredible Hulk.

You can preorder Fire and Blood here before its Nov. 20, 2018 release
