Germans are showing support for Italians in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic by singing "Bella Ciao," the Guardian reports.

In the Bavarian town of Bamberg, people stuck their heads out of their windows and sat in chairs on their rooftops to sing the Italian resistance song.

The move is an apparent nod to Italians singing the tune in Rome earlier this month, as journalist Jessica Phelan tweeted. Elsewhere in Italy, videos of people holding concerts from their balconies have gone viral on social media.

Germany currently has 18,323 reported cases of coronavirus, while Italy has 47,021 cases, according to the World Health Organization. Italy has the highest death toll in the world. On Saturday, officials from the country reported 793 additional deaths from COVID-19, the official term for the disease caused by the virus, the New York Times reports.
