Seven years after The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (nine years after the Danish original), Lisbeth Salander is back in The Girl in the Spider's Web. In its first trailer, director Fede Álvarez's take on the action-packed book series is every bit as ruthless and dark as its source material.

This time around, Lisbeth has developed a degree of notoriety as the "righter of wrongs," and "the girl who hurts men who hurt women." She's haunted by a memory of her past which will eventually lead Lisbeth to something called the Spider Society – a twisted web of its own.

Instead of adapting the second book in Stieg Larsson's book series about the vengeful hacker, Álvarez's film skips to book four, originally penned by David Lagercrantz in 2015 (Larsson died in 2004). Foy is the third actress to embody Salander, who was played by Rooney Mara in the David Fincher and Noomi Rapace in the Swedish trilogy.

The Girl in the Spider's Web releases Nov. 9.
