Sony dropped a ton of news at CES 2023. Amid the company's announcement that hit racing game Gran Turismo was coming to its new PlayStation VR2 gaming system and unveiling a real, actual EV car, Sony also shared the first look at another Gran Turismo product in the works:
Gran Turismo the movie!
The film version of the racing game franchise was announced in May 2022, but on Wednesday at CES, Sony provided the first sneak peak, bringing out District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp to introduce it.
Gran Turismo stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, and Darren Barnet, and the company says it's based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, "a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver."
Gran Turismo hits theaters on Aug. 11, 2023.
