The studio behind the minions is gearing up for Christmas early. Illumination's first trailer for The Grinch dropped in early March, and now the second sneak peek previews even more of the holiday thief.

Benedict Cumberbatch's Grinch is far more cuddly than the (vaguely nauseating) live-action Jim Carrey portrayal.

And, as for the story, the remake is taking Whoville to a seemingly lighter place than the original. Max is filling the role of man's best friend rather than subservient mutt and the Grinch isn't rising to even Despicable Me meanness levels. This might be explained by the Grinch's new orphanage backstory, showcased in the trailer, which is sure to get mixed reactions from Dr. Seuss purists. (But look at that cute little baby Grinch! He has such little hands!)

Looks like we're in for way more than twelve days of Christmas marketing—The Grinch doesn't come to theaters until November 9th.
