Guillermo Del Toro is back to his gloriously sinister camp ways with the shadowy trailer for Nightmare Alley.

Cate Blanchett characteristically ruins us all as a mysterious psychiatrist who's helping a con-man called Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) to trick a business tycoon (Richard Jenkins). Blanchett's Carol co-star Rooney Mara is here too, as his love Molly, and Tony Collette plays a carnival-based clairvoyant called Zeena whose gifts might help Stanton's big con job. The cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, and David Strathairn.

Directed by Del Toro, it's got American Horror Story vibes meets Bioshock Art Deco meets every murder mystery party you’ve ever been to.

Nightmare Alley is out in cinemas Dec. 17.
