It's actually about the origins of Guy Fawkes Day!

BBC's Gunpowder is not, in any way, shape, or form, a Game of Thrones remake. But you'd be forgiven for thinking it was.

The trailer opens with the all-too-familiar voice of Jon Snow, ruminating on how his name has been dragged through the mud and his loved ones tormented and killed. So far, we're in very familiar territory.

Except it turns out this isn't Jon Snow, even if he is played by Kit Harington. It's Robert Catesby, an English Catholic who orchestrated a plot to assassinate King James I in 1605. (You might have heard of this incident as the "Gunpowder Plot," the failure of which is still commemorated in Great Britain today as Guy Fawkes Day.)

Which still kinda sounds like Jon Snow, except that the tagline makes it very clear there's one huge difference between the King in the North and Robert Catesby: the latter is described as a "mastermind," in contrast to the former, who famously knows nothing.

The three-part miniseries will debut "soon" on BBC One. Tom Cullen, Mark Gatiss, Peter Mullan, and Liv Tyler also star.
