Hannah Gadsby is a hard act to follow -- even if you're Hannah Gadsby. So she's understandably keen to follow up the wild and unexpected success of her stage-show-turned-Emmy-nominated-Netflix-special Nanette with something equally unforgettable.
The Australian comedian went on The Late Show to tell Stephen Colbert about her bemusement at being nominated in the same Emmy category as Beyoncé ("Are we in the 'same category'"? she asks, a little rhetorically.)
She also discussed her new show, Douglas -- specifically, the extra-special merch.
"In my show I talk about having autism and I do do some anti-vaxxer material, which is... dangerous," she said drily. "At the end of it I encourage people who don't want to vaccinate their children, that instead of having children, perhaps they should get a pet rock?"
In service of this bit, Gadsby is making pet rocks to sell as merch at her live shows, and her craft is now so developed that they now resemble people, famous works of art, and iconic memes. Her take on Side-Eye Chloe is definitely the latter, and it must be seen to be believed.
