A new proposed bill in the state of Hawaii calls for the phasing out of cigarettes within the next few years. This legislation would raise the legal minimum age to purchase cigarettes each year for the next five years. That means the minimum age would be 30 by 2020, 40 by 2021, 50 by 2022 and 60 by 2023. By 2024, cigarette purchasers would have to be 100 years old to purchase the tobacco product.
