If you're a fan of The Witcher series, whether you grew up with Andrzej Sapkowski's book series published in Poland in the '90s, or devoured every last side quest in the games, Geralt of Rivia is a truly iconic character.

But Henry Cavill, who plays Geralt in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher, has a strong handle on the character, having read the original series by Sapkowski and having battled monsters in the games.

The Witcher hits Netflix Dec. 20.
