Mads Mikkelsen is a creepy death soldier in Hideo Kojima's next game

Uhhhhhhhhh....

The Game Awards viewers and attendees were treated to a first look at Death Stranding, the first post-Konami game from Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, on Thursday night.

A cinematic trailer that debuted at E3 offered very little insight into what Kojima is planning, though it did feature a nude Norman Reedus and some eerie floating figures in the sky. There's not much more insight to be had from this new look, but the creep factor remains high.

The demo, which was apparently running on a PlayStation 4 Pro, did give a first look at the game's ... villain? It appears to be some manner of soldier tethered to a squad of undead soldiers by what we can only assume are death strands.

Also: Is the bearded guy in glasses Guillermo del Toro? Sure looks like it.
