Man instantly regrets driving close to a hungry hungry hippo

A man driving his truck across a bridge made the terrible mistake of trusting that a hippo was friendly toward humans.

Wikus Ceronie, a 26-year-old welding inspector, was crossing a bridge in Kruger National Park during a drive from Mozambique to South Africa on Friday. Ceronie tells Latest Sightings that he noticed the hippo on the bridge, but assumed that it was used to humans because there were people walking in the nearby vicinity. Ceronie was very wrong.

Almost immediately upon noticing the truck, the hippo charged the vehicle, leaving the front end of the truck with significant damage. The hippo briefly tried to bite the truck, then walked away as if nothing ever happened.

Fortunately, Ceronie was not injured in the encounter.
