Another day, another scary AF example of an Australian animal tackling prey bigger than itself. As if the recently-spotted huntsman spider dragging a mouse around wasn't enough.

Queensland woman Melanie Jade Ottaway has spotted something even more impressive slash nightmarish: A spider grabbing hold of a whole gecko, holding onto it by the head.

Ottaway and her partner were sitting down for dinner on Sunday evening when they noticed the "dinner-plate sized" spider (believed to be a huntsman) clinging to the glass door right next to them, with the sizeable gecko in tow.

She told Caters that despite the "gorgeousness" of the lizard, he was obviously doomed. "It was too late to save him, so we let nature take its path. It's creepy isn't it? But fascinating in a strange way."

Couldn't have put it more succinctly ourselves. #BYOGecko
