Why is this video about Iowa #1 on YouTube's trending charts?

I don't understand and am asking for help.

Yesterday, while looking for some sweet content to share with our beloved readers, I stumbled upon the above video. It contains 24 seconds of a fast-talking Iowan describing his state in pretty generic terms. He mentions cornfields, more cornfields, and then says the state will be relevant again during the presidential election primaries in 2020.

I thought this video was ~cute~ at best, but not necessarily funny, not all that original, and immediately forgettable. I went the rest of the day without ever thinking about this video again.

But lo and behold, I wake up this morning only to find this good-natured lad sitting at the very tippy top of YouTube's trending page. It has over 1.2 million views. And I don't understand.

Are most people unaware that Iowa is flat and full of cornfields? Is this a meme that I somehow missed? Is this one of those internet gang ups to promote a non joke into a joke? I love those, but I'm not finding the usual evidence of that here. Can someone explain this to me?

As with most of these internet questions, the answer probably lies in one word: teens.

So, I'll just leave that video here. You can watch it and probably enjoy it! Because it seems like most everyone is except me, and I have no idea why.
