Manhattan's Astor Place Shake Shack saw a major shift this weekend: the cashiers were replaced with iPads. Shake Shack employees can now help you place your order on an electronic menu, giving you the option of talking to a worker, or placing your order quickly on a screen. Employee's roles haven't become obsolete, as they now have the important job of assisting customers to make sure their ordering process goes smoothly. Credit card and electronic payment are the only methods of payment. Fast food has never been faster.
