Are we about to learn more about the origin of IT's "Pennywise" identity?

IT: Welcome to Derry episode 6 dropped some hints about where the creature may have found its clown inspiration, and judging by HBO's trailer for episode 7, Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti's series is about to delve even deeper into this.

In the clip above we go back to Derry in 1908 — two cycles before the current 1962 cycle in the show — and see Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård) dancing on stage at a fun fair surrounding by laughing and applauding children.

We all know how this ends.

New episodes of IT: Welcome to Derry premiere Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and HBO Max.
