James Corden's monologue gets brutally derailed by the Muppets

Statler and Waldorf — those two elderly grumps from The Muppets — do not appreciate James Corden's jokes. But they do enjoy making fun of him.

In the sketch above from The Late Late Show, the host attempts to wade through his monologue while the pair repeatedly heckle his gags over a video call.

When Kermit and Fozzie show up Corden thinks he's finally saved — especially after Fozzie's reassurance that's he's "very funny" — but their reaction is little better: just a stony, awkward silence, followed by the quick suggestion that they all do a musical number instead.
