The Late Late Show was on a break last week, but James Corden was in the news more than ever.

It started seven days ago, when Balthazar restaurant owner Keith McNally shared a post on Instagram saying he'd banned James Corden for two incidents in which he'd been rude to staff. He posted a follow-up not long after to say Corden had rung him to apologise, but by that point the story was everywhere.

On Monday night, back on air, James Corden took a moment to address it, admitting he made a "sarcastic, rude comment" after his wife was given food she was allergic to.

"It is a comment I deeply regret," said Corden, going on to say that he hates that he upset anybody. "It was never my intention. It just wasn't. And I love that restaurant, I love the staff there. I hope I'm allowed in again one day, so when I'm back in New York I can go there and apologise in person, which is something I absolutely will do."

McNallly has continued posting about the incident on his Instagram page over the past week, so it'll be interesting to see if he has a response.
