Tis the season for cheesy off-brand holiday rom-coms (the likes of A Christmas Prince and Christmas Inheritance), and Saturday Night Live knows exactly the winning formula. Get some unknown actors (preferably Canadian) and add in a small-town storyline and some Christmas, and voila!
Host James Franco stars as aspiring Canadian stud Chris Bearstick, who stars in not one but two Hallmark Christmas movies in the sketch. There's Young Santa, in which Jessica Normal (Kate McKinnon) runs into her high school sweetheart while home away from the big city; and Kitchen Christmas Wish, in which our female lead (a single mom and struggling baker) has to get out of a snow globe; and Prince Santa, which stars Chris Bearstick as a royal in search of a wife, because aren't they all?
Come for the familiarity of the same sets and mediocre actors (hey look, Chris Bearstick again!), and stay for...well, we're not sure. Christmas?
