'The Disaster Artist' teaser: James Franco makes the most notoriously terrible movie of all time

Oh hi, Mark. And also other Mashable readers not named Mark. Anyway, we've got something perfectly terrible for you today, and that is the first teaser for The Disaster Artist – James Franco's new movie about the making of Tommy Wiseau's The Room.

To clarify, The Room might be bad but The Disaster Artist actually looks pretty good. Franco, who also directed, stars as Wiseau, the eccentric mind behind a movie so notoriously awful, it became a cult classic in its own right.

And the clip above seems to offer a tiny bit of insight into why Wiseau's film turned out so poorly. It's got something to do with Wiseau's apparent inability to complete even the simplest tasks, like memorizing a few simple lines.

They do get there eventually, though, and you can compare Franco's version to the real one (below).

Franco's brought out a bunch of his famous friends for this one, including his brother Dave Franco as Greg Sestero, the actor who played Mark, and Seth Rogen as script supervisor Sandy Schklair, who claims he (not Wiseau) directed most of The Room.

If all that's not enough to pique your interest, know also that The Room got some seriously strong reviews at SXSW earlier this year. Interested yet? If so, mark it on your calendar: The Disaster Artist arrives in theaters December 1.
