Jessica Chastain declares 'You Don't Own Me' in powerful 'SNL' monologue

Jessica Chastain, lamenting both her dearth of fun, flighty girl roles and her absence from this weekend's Women's Marches, gave a singing, dancing monologue to kick off tonight's Saturday Night Live hosting duties – all to the tune of Lesley Gore's female empowerment anthem, "You Don't Own Me."

Flanked by SNL mainstays Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong, Chastain belted out the classic, while Aidy Bryant celebrated with pink "P-Hats."

"I can't say the real word 'cos it's just one of those many words that only the president can use," Bryant clarified.

"You mean 'Pussy Hat?'" Thank goodness for Leslie Jones.

Beck Bennett and Pete Davidson chimed in with their wholly unnecessary support as vocal male allies, but were promptly privilege-checked.

"Ladies, we were strong last year and we'll be even stronger this year," Chastain declared.

This isn't the first time the two-time Oscar nominee has used humor and her platform as an actress to challenge the patriarchy. A viral Tonight Show sketch last November hilariously illustrated the demeaning and convoluted demands female actors face going on auditions.

In a moment where the validity of the #MeToo and Time's Up movements is being challenged even as they are making gains, Chastain's SNL monologue is a reminder that women aren't quieting down anytime soon.
