Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey are two names that future generations will read about in history books.

But, the road to making history wasn't exactly without its obstacles. Kantor and Twohey are the New York Times investigative reporters who broke the Harvey Weinstein investigation, uncovering decades of sexual abuse, and through their reporting, sparked a global movement.

Talking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Show about their book She Said, the pair spoke about how Weinstein tried to prevent the story from being published.

Twohey explained some of Harvey's intimidation tactics that he used in the run-up to the story's publication.

"He amassed a group of high powered lawyers who were gonna threaten us with a lawsuit if we went forward with our story, he hired a private investigator firm made up of former Israeli intelligence officials that were promised $300,000 if they put a stop to our investigation," said Twohey.

"In the 11th hour, as we were preparing to publish, Harvey Weinstein basically barged into the New York Times himself, surrounded by some of his lawyers, and folders with information that he was hoping to use to smear his accusers."

Those efforts to prevent the story being published were, as we know, unsuccessful.
