Jordan Klepper confronts Matt Gaetz

Last year on Jan. 6, the day a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol and attacked police, The Daily Show's Jordan Klepper was on the ground in Washington, D.C., reporting for the show. During the course of the day, Klepper and his crew faced harassment from the rioters (one of whom also tripped up Klepper's camera operator).

This year on Jan. 6, he returned. In the video above, Klepper speaks to people holding a "vigil" for the insurrectionists currently in prison, interviews more of the same angry protestors he usually speaks to at these events, and tracks down Rep. Matt Gaetz — who is currently being investigated for alleged sex trafficking — to a press conference he's holding alongside Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (the congressman is planning to "walk the grounds that patriotic Americans walked from the White House to the Capitol").

"Hey Matt Gaetz, if you are going to re-enact the events of January 6th, who is going to take a shit in the rotunda?" calls out Klepper, referencing the feces Trump supporters reportedly smeared on the Capitol walls. "And also, who is going to make the gallows?"

Klepper is moved aside by security, but before Gaetz has time climb into a waiting car he manages to get in one last question: "Isn't this a little bit childish, Matt, or is that what attracts you to this?"

Gaetz doesn't respond.
