Julie Andrews reveals how difficult it was to shoot the iconic 'Sound of Music' hilltop scene

Any fan of The Sound of Music can tell you about the urge he or she gets at the sight of a grassy open field to spread the arms, spin around in circles, and belt out "the hills are alive with the sound of music."

In the video above, Julie Andrews tells Jimmy Fallon how they shot the hilltop scene and, apparently, it wasn't easy. On top of shooting the scene from a helicopter in the pouring rain, Andrews said that she was thrown to the ground by the down draft of the aircraft every time they reset the shot.

Being rain-drenched and covered in dirt with a mouthful of hay was totally worth it for the iconic shot.
