You probably didn't wake up thinking Katy Perry would make you cry today, but get ready.

Tony Marrero, a survivor of the shooting at Pulse in Orlando, Florida, visited The Ellen Degeneres Show to share his story. One of the things that helped him through the aftermath of the tragedy was Perry's inspirational song "Rise," so the pop star herself stopped by to give his recovery a boost in person. It doesn't take long before everyone's in tears, and Perry even offers to pay for his first year of film school.

Marrero was shot four times in the back at the nightclub, which was built to be a safe space celebrating the LGBTQ community. His friend, Luis Vielma, was among the 49 people who lost their lives that night.
