Now that there are Christmas lights up, it's no longer too early for Oscar predictions, and Damien Chazelle's La La Land has been the frontrunner for some time now.
Chazelle (Whiplash) takes on a musical romance in the film which won the People's Choice award at the Toronto International Film Festival and is set to be one of the biggest releases of the holiday season.
La La Land is the artistic love affair of Mia (Emma Stone), an actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a pianist, as they face the uphill whirlwind of trying to succeed.
"It's conflict and it's complicated and it's very exciting," Sebastian says in the trailer. From just a glimpse of its spectacular musical numbers and the known chemistry of the leads, it looks to be just that.
La La Land releases on Dec. 16.
