A ridiculously expensive Lamborghini Murciélago was recently destroyed in front of a crowd of media and two horrified children in Taiwan.

According to state-run Focus Taiwan, the car was ordered to be destroyed after the owner of the vehicle was stopped at a check point and it was revealed that he had fake license plates for the car. The car was initially impounded under the Under the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act in 2013, and a three year legal battle with authorities ensued.

The owner of the vehicle, a commercial pilot, filed multiple appeals to get his car back, but in the end, the $315,000 car became a pile of scrap metal.
