In 1994, a 19-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Spoiler alert: He did not win.

In the 22 years since then, Leo has become one of Hollywood's most acclaimed actors, snagging several Oscar nods but losing them all. It's been an uphill battle, to say the least, but critics are predicting Leo will finally have his turn this Sunday, winning for his role in The Revenant. (Ironically, where he plays a man who will not give up against all odds.)

So, to celebrate, we present to you a classic: Leo's interview with Jay Leno from The Tonight Show, where he discusses, among other gems, his anticipation about attending his first Oscars.

"I'm ready. I wanna go. It's gonna be cool," he says.

Let's hope his attitude hasn't changed.
