If you mashed up the dark technological futurescape of Black Mirror with the victim-turned-vigilante plot line of a superhero movie, you might get something a bit like iBoy: the new Netflix original film starring Maisie Williams in one of the lead roles.

In the trailer above, teenager Tom (Bill Milner) gets in a confrontation with a local gang while going to meet Lucy (Williams). He ends up getting shot, and a piece of smartphone gets embedded in his brain.

When he wakes up, Tom asks the doctor if there will be side effects. Obviously, the answer is a big fat yes.

"What if your reality got an upgrade?" is the central question posed by the iBoy trailer. The solution, apparently, is to seek revenge on the local gangs in the most brutally explosive way possible.
