Let's go back in time for a moment.
It was the early 2000s. Mariah Carey was doing an interview and someone asked what she thought about Beyoncé. Carey heaps praise on the singer ("fabulous," "great singer," "very sweet"), like anyone would.
Then, she was asked about Jennifer Lopez.
"I don't know her," she replied, smiling and bobbing her head with a "let's wrap this up" nod.
The quote is now in the pantheon of Mariah Careyisms, igniting what many perceived to be a feud between the two. Especially because Lopez later went on to say they've met many times. "She's forgetful, I guess," Lopez bemusedly said of Carey earlier this year.
Now let's come back to the present. Tuesday night, Carey stopped by for a taping of Watch What Happens Live and host Andy Cohen brought up that fateful interview. It seems like nothing has changed.
"Apparently I'm forgetful," Carey told Cohen.
"I don't know her," she continued. "What am I supposed to say? I'm not gonna put on a thing like 'we're all Hollywood and let's just all pretend we're best friends."
Everything was petty and nothing hurt.
