Six scientists just spent a year inside a dome in Hawaii as they replicated what life would be like if they lived on Mars. NASA funded the experiment, which is meant to help figure out how crews could survive on Mars when a real mission is ready for launch.

The dome has two levels, a 993-square-foot ground floor with common rooms and a 424-square-foot second floor loft with six private compartments. It also has a 160-square-foot workshop attached. When they exited the dome, the scientists had a relatable craving.
