Game of Thrones isn't such a stretch when you see the trailer for Mary, Queen of Scots, based on the real relationship between Queen Elizabeth I (Margot Robbie) and her Scottish cousin Mary (Saoirse Ronan).

The rulers of England and Scotland come together, but their camaraderie quickly turns to tension, and eventually, to war.

Directed by Jason Rourke, Mary, Queen of Scots promises a healthy dose of sword fighting on horses, fancy corsets, male fragility, and a riveting battle between two powerful women.

Who will prevail, and at what cost? You'll have to wait for the film to find out (or check a history book, but let's be real).

Mary, Queen of Scots hits theaters at the Oscar-ready date of Dec. 7.
