Competitive eating is that perfect mix of fascinating and disgusting that makes it instantly irresistible. We're compelled to watch because, frankly, it's incredible what these people can do.
Matt Stonie is the second-ranked competitive eater in Major League Eating (oh yes, that's a thing). He holds records for consuming large quantities of everything from hot dogs to poutine. He recently snagged another world record by eating 255 Peeps in five minutes. 255. Peeps.
For being marketed as a fun colorful sugar treat, Peeps don't actually seem that easy to eat. (Just one probably contains an entire week's worth of appropriate sugar intake.) We can't even imagine what consuming 255 of them must feel like—do they expand in your stomach after you swallow them? Is your tongue dyed pink and yellow and blue after this endeavor? We have so many questions ... but there is no doubt that Stonie is some kind of champion for accomplishing the feat.
