You know Pedro Pascal from his work in The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and maybe even an eight-hour-long audiobook. Now, the megastar takes on his strangest project yet: an ad for mobile game Merge Mansion, from Metacore Games.

Merge Mansion has been turning heads for a while thanks to its bizarre commercials, including several starring Academy Award winner Kathy Bates. Basically, they follow Ursula, a mysterious grandma who may or may not have committed murder on behalf of her jilted granddaughter Maddie. There are knives, messages written in blood, and some menacing knitting needles, but there's no clear idea as to what the game's story is. (Probably because it doesn't have one — it's a pretty standard match-three game.)

Anyway, Pascal joins the world of Merge Mansion as grizzled detective Tim Rockford, who seems perplexed by the mysteries of Merge Mansion. "Everything points to Grandma," he says while examining the evidence. "It's almost like some twisted game." Sure. The biggest mystery here is how Bates and Pascal came to be involved in these ads.
